I absolutely adore Vampire Weekend and they've been one of my favourite bands for many years now. I've been anticipating 'Modern Vampires Of The City' for about 3 years since they brought out Contra in 2010, they have made me wait so long! I had actually not listened to Contra in months after playing it to its death, listening to that album again was so lovely as I had forgotten that songs such as 'Giving Up The Gun' and 'White Sky' even existed!
On my first listen I wasn't too keen on 'Mondern Vampires Of The City' and was pretty disapointed as the songs are very mellow compared to the previous two albums. However, since listening to it numerous times after i've come to notice how brilliant this is. It will never beat their self titled debut for me but songs such as 'Worship You', 'Hey Ya' and 'Unbelievers' are defintiely up there with the best of them!
I'd also like to point out how amazing the album covers always look. I have all three phyical albums and they're all in this little sleeve that makes them all look together and complete. It's so cute.
